Melia Dubia Project, Gujarat- Kutch
The Melia Dubia plantation project in the Kutch district in the Gujarat state in western India was a big one for SANF GREENMENS PVT LTD, there was a lot of expectations on the part of the client who entrusted his more than 80 acres of land with us, and a huge responsibility on our part to meet up to his expectations and make the best use of the land.
After our initial conversation with the client, SANF GREENMENS PVT LTD team had set out for land inspection 3 years back. SANF GREENMENS PVT LTD is a huge supporter of an integrated farming system, mixed crop-livestock system, in particular, so we suggested the client maintain livestock (desi cows in particular) to reap the most benefits for himself and his family in terms of monetary returns and health. The client readily agreed, and today the land in the third year of maintenance by SANF GREENMENS PVT LTD team has three desi cows and rapidly growing Melia Dubia trees. The rapid growth can be attributed to increased fertility of land due to desi cow maintenance, as one ‘desi cow’ helps make manure for 25 acres of land and cow dung can be used as an effective alternative to chemical fertilizers that enhances productivity with maintaining the soil health and enhances the microbial population (the key to soil health management).
